Traveling Tips: Motorcycle and car trip in Scandinavia

From Denmark to the mountains of Lapland, the incredible scenery of Scandinavia makes driving your own vehicle a fantastic experience. The roads are excellent and traffic signs are easy to understand. Here are some simple things that you should be aware of when driving in Scandinavia:

  • Drive on the right hand side of the road throughout Scandinavia
  • All passengers inside a car must wear a seat belt
  • Dipped headlights are required 24 hours a day on all vehicle types
  • The minimum age to hold a drivers license is 18 years or older for a car
  • A warning triangle is a requirement · For motor cyclists, a safety helmet is a requirement
  • You must never drive under the influence of either alcohol or drugs/euphoriants – heavy penalties apply

It is not permitted to drive while using a mobile telephone, and heavy fines apply Speed limits for cars on motorways vary slightly throughout Scandinavia. For example in Denmark the speed limit on motorways is in general 130km/h. In Norway the general speed limit on motorways is either 90 km/h or 100km/h. On Swedish motorways the speed limit is 110km/h. Certain stretches will only allow a lower speed limit, due to heavy traffic closer to major cities or driving through treacherous areas. On smaller roads throughout Scandinavia the speed limit will range from 70 to 80 km/h and within residential areas from 30 to 50 km/h. Studded tires are not compulsory but if fitted, they can only be used between November and April.

Motorways can be used free of charge in Denmark and Sweden. A fee applies when crossing the Great Belt Bridge between Sealand and Funen in Denmark, and when crossing the Öresund Bridge between Malmö in Sweden and Copenhagen, Denmark. The cost varies depending on the type of vehicle. The two bridges create a link not only between the regions but also makes traveling between Scandinavia and Europe a lot easier.

In Norway, road tolls are very important for maintaining the quality of the roads and tunnels. There are 45 road tolls in total (2007) of which half have electronic fee collection – AutoPASS. This allows you to drive through road tolls in the AutoPASS lane without stopping. The subscription and tag needed are also available to foreign vehicles.

When travelling consider planning your trip with the route maps of Cheaperthanhotels which provide route planners between cities and hotel stopovers. Try these pages for examples Sweden Hotels, Stockholm Hotels, Norway Hotels, Oslo Hotels. Some roads in Norway are closed during winter season but the main mountain crossings are intended to stay open throughout the cold season.

It is always best to check this before going on any longer trips or crossing the mountains as the road closures vary depending on the weather conditions. For further information, please contact the Road User Information Centre. When in Norway simply call 175 (+47 815 48 991 from abroad). The service is open 24 hours.

Travel to Spain .. an Idea

Travelling is one of my and my wife's hobby, among all other hobbies, this one need a perfect planning and a lot of money just to prevent the traveling from being a nightmare.

Our country is a great God's gift, we have almost anything here, Indonesian cuisine, glitzy culture, fantastic beaches and wonderful weather. It's very comfortable being here, in Indonesia, but I never had any chance to travel outside of this country. That because now I have a lovely little child, and I just can not stay away from him.

Spain is the first place to visit in my mind if I have a chance. There are many tourist destinations awaited, such as Costa Brava, Costa del Sol, Benidorm and Alicante.
Costa Brava with its rocky cliffs and a mix of pebble beaches and sandy beaches, I heard also that there a lot of cheap Costa Brava Hotels to stay with family member.

Costa del Sol that lies on the Mediterranean sea, and the average water temperature is 18ºC (24ºC in August), large numbers of Costa Del Sol Hotels are available in roadside that also easy book-able.

Benidorm, that is particularly popular for British and Dutch tourist, is in the province of Alicante, just like tourist destination above, Benidorm Hotels also offers cheap and comfort places, the price is ranging from as low as EUR 64.

Alicante, is an elegant city with wide boulevards, clean beaches, a sparkling new harbour complex and some world-class museums, there are various Alicante Hotels with various price offered for tourist to rest after finishing their schedule.

I'll take pictures with tripod .. soon!

I'm not professional photographer, but I do love taking picture even it just for memories and for fun. Via my Nikon D350 DSLR, I take picture in every occasion. In the future I am planning to share my pictures with friends and colleagues, just to tell how much I enjoy my hobby.

I never took any picture with tripod, because I don't have one. It's easy to have a cheap tripod, there are lots of it in local shop with various brand. But I have my own dream, I want one of the Velbond tripods. I heard that Velbond tripods are made for professional and fit for a digital, 35mm, medium or large format camera, video camera, binoculars or scopes. And Velbon tripods has a model with the quality, craftsmanship and exact features to meet our needs.

These tripods also not to expensive but good in quality, some are made of carbon fibre and the rest are made of magnesium alloy, that's why these tripods are light, but rigid.

Soon I'll drop my choice on Velbon CX-570 Tripod, with maximum load of 12 lbs and maximum height almost 60 inch will suit my needs, and it's only around $39 - $40.

4 Tips before buying used domain

Used domain has its own market, eventhough new domain is cheaper year by year but demand in used domain still high. Used domain have something else that is not offered by a new domain. In fact, a used domain can be sell higher than a new domain.

But there are precautions before buying a used domain, these precautions are made to minimalize your risk:

  • Google Flag Status, try to have as much as information on the domain, whether it is banned by Search ENgine (specially Google) or not. Although you can request inclusion from Google Webmaster Tools, it is not funny at all to buy a Banned domain.
  • Pagerank, as I write this post, a domain that carry pagerank 4 varies in price, usually between $50-$70. The price must be paid because whe don't need to waste our time to populate links to this domain to get pagerank. I think it's okay to have the PR4 domain on that price, but we must pay attention of the pagerank validity!
Always check the pagerank status before you grab the domain. digpagerank.com is a good source for checking the pagerank's validity. Check the domain you are intended to buy with this tool and make sure it displays pagerank in GREEN instead of RED and ORANGE.
  • Domain name, you maybe want the shorter domain and the nicest name available, nice name and shorter name usually sell in higher price. Try to get the domain name that have correlation with your future content.
  • Google AdSense status, If you plan to have google adsense advertisement inside your domain name, this step is vital. Don't buy domain that is banned by AdSense, check with the Google AdSense preview tool first before you buy! Or you aren't be able to display adsense!

Changes On Referral Pricing

An email had been sent to me later on this morning, as usual I was shocked a bit after looked that the email was sent from Google AdSense .. what I've been doing wrong? But after a glance reading, it just a follow up of their post on Inside AdSense Blog which I have posted before.

In early January, the option to add referral units directing users to the AdSense product will no longer appear in your account. You will continue to accrue earnings for all existing referrals yet to generate $100 until late January, at which point the program will be fully retired. Existing referral units will continue to appear on your pages. By the end of January, you should remove all referral units directing users to AdSense from your pages. Referral units that you do not remove will continue to be displayed on your pages as normal, but conversions will no longer be recorded. We suggest you replace the AdSense referrals with referrals to another product or service or an additional ad unit.

As I wrote, I never put the AdSense Refferral, so have not to pull anything from my blog(s).

2 Ways to Make your Firefox Faster

Amit at digital inspiration wrote 2 tips on improving Firefox's browsing speed, according to him, those tips will make your firefox faster so it will deliver the better browsing experience.

The first tips is making a new profile without any modifications and runs firefox with the new profiles. If you need some bookmarks from your old profile, you can import first from your previous profile. LOL .. I tried this tips and I was surprised, it runs just like a fresh installation of firefox.

The second tips, is an alternative trick from James Meyer, by copying the firefox's preference file (prefs.js) and edit the file. Eliminate the lines that are related to various add-ons. This sound more complicated from the first tips, and haven't tried this, according to James, you have to make the prefs.js backed up first before deleting any lines.

You can read those tips on digital inspiration as well as any other useful tips.

List of Pay Per Review Services

Brian wrote an extensive list of pay per review, pay per post or get paid to review services that connects bloggers and advertisers.

Pay per review services nowadays are one of the most chosen among advertisers, because they can get a good permanently link placement on others blogs that looks natural. On the bloggers side, they generate money while doing one of their passion .. POSTING!

I'm new to this service, in fact I haven't got any dime out of this business .. some of my reviews are in pending status, some are approved, but I have to wait for a few days to receive the money.

The first place on the list is blogsvertise.com, which I joined a week ago and had finished my first 4 tasks for around $24.

The second place is, payperpost.com, I haven't joined this service because of a paypal issue.

And the third one is Reviewme.com, I heard they pays well .. up to $200 per review .. but I haven't got one. For me $10 per review is a quite good earning, it will cover my everyday needs. But who knows if I could get as high as $50 per review?

The complete list is here, check this out, join it and start generating money by writing your passion.

Pogung aka Wawan, a well known Jogja online earner got a greeting card from google. It was sent from Belgium instead from United States or Ireland (where they usually got the check from).

Not all AdSense publishers had the card sent by google, he's assuming only publishers that made over 10k/year get this card.

Congrats man! Just like google I wish the best for you in 2008!

Changes on Adsense Referral Pricing

For you that put an AdSense Referral link on your sites/blogs, you better take a look at the official Google AdSense Blog. Because, currently they make another 'adjustment' on AdSense Referral pricing.

For some and other reason, I never put this link in my blogs/websites. So whatever the changes, it will not hurt my earning.

AdBrite Tips & Tricks

Here some top tips and tricks that will help you to make a good start in AdBrite as publisher:

  • Never start your pricing too high. It is better to error on the low side and get advertisers hooked, because then they will be willing to pay higher prices for your inventory when the pricing increases.
  • Make sure your placement is worth buying, the popular sellers in the marketplace tend to be sites with the most premium inventory.
  • Spend some time tagging your site, and giving proper demographic information
  • In your site description provide ideas of advertisers that you think might convert well. You know your audience best.
  • AdBrite is more successful if you sell a FEW premium placements as oppposed to just MANY backfill placements.
  • Hard code all placements. because of the concreteness of "your ad here". Putting AdBrite in rotation doesn't perform as well. Just like an auction, the beginning price is never the final price.
  • Allow a ramping period. AdBrite is a tool to help sell your own inventory, and think of it as a virtual salesperson for you. Any salesperson needs some time to gain traction.
  • Entice advertisers with specials. You have full control to set pricing so make occasional specials to entice advertisers.
  • Enable AdBrite’s auto pricing which will raise automatically as inventory sells, and lower itself as vacant inventory sits unsold.
You can find more AdBrite Tips here.
