Soon I'll have my own online store

I have another dreaming aside of having a offline computer store in my small town. I want to have my own online store, that the product inventory is not from an affiliate program. My own online store, I manage it myself and run the advertising strategy myself.

Some friends provide support by searching a good an affordable shopping cart that has been proven by hundreds of online stores among the internet world. Some provides a very expensive shopping cart software that I myself can not imagine yet how to pay the software because it's a way too high for starter, some give informations on very cheap (and even nulled) shopping cart that also make me doubt about the after sales services.

One great informations is from my friend that already uses software from ashopcommerce.com, the leading US provider of hosted shopping cart software. It offers a complete solution for merchants to sell online. Hundreds of online stores use this ecommerce software, because it's not only reliable, but also affordable, fully customizable and easy to setup and maintain.

Soon, I'll make my own store, with the help of ecommerce software from Ashop Commerce.

List of Pay Per Review Services

Brian wrote an extensive list of pay per review, pay per post or get paid to review services that connects bloggers and advertisers.

Pay per review services nowadays are one of the most chosen among advertisers, because they can get a good permanently link placement on others blogs that looks natural. On the bloggers side, they generate money while doing one of their passion .. POSTING!

I'm new to this service, in fact I haven't got any dime out of this business .. some of my reviews are in pending status, some are approved, but I have to wait for a few days to receive the money.

The first place on the list is blogsvertise.com, which I joined a week ago and had finished my first 4 tasks for around $24.

The second place is, payperpost.com, I haven't joined this service because of a paypal issue.

And the third one is Reviewme.com, I heard they pays well .. up to $200 per review .. but I haven't got one. For me $10 per review is a quite good earning, it will cover my everyday needs. But who knows if I could get as high as $50 per review?

The complete list is here, check this out, join it and start generating money by writing your passion.

Google Sent Him a Greeting Card

Pogung aka Wawan, a well known Jogja online earner got a greeting card from google. It was sent from Belgium instead from United States or Ireland (where they usually got the check from).

Not all AdSense publishers had the card sent by google, he's assuming only publishers that made over 10k/year get this card.

Congrats man! Just like google I wish the best for you in 2008!

Changes on Adsense Referral Pricing

For you that put an AdSense Referral link on your sites/blogs, you better take a look at the official Google AdSense Blog. Because, currently they make another 'adjustment' on AdSense Referral pricing.

For some and other reason, I never put this link in my blogs/websites. So whatever the changes, it will not hurt my earning.

AdBrite Tips & Tricks

Here some top tips and tricks that will help you to make a good start in AdBrite as publisher:

  • Never start your pricing too high. It is better to error on the low side and get advertisers hooked, because then they will be willing to pay higher prices for your inventory when the pricing increases.
  • Make sure your placement is worth buying, the popular sellers in the marketplace tend to be sites with the most premium inventory.
  • Spend some time tagging your site, and giving proper demographic information
  • In your site description provide ideas of advertisers that you think might convert well. You know your audience best.
  • AdBrite is more successful if you sell a FEW premium placements as oppposed to just MANY backfill placements.
  • Hard code all placements. because of the concreteness of "your ad here". Putting AdBrite in rotation doesn't perform as well. Just like an auction, the beginning price is never the final price.
  • Allow a ramping period. AdBrite is a tool to help sell your own inventory, and think of it as a virtual salesperson for you. Any salesperson needs some time to gain traction.
  • Entice advertisers with specials. You have full control to set pricing so make occasional specials to entice advertisers.
  • Enable AdBrite’s auto pricing which will raise automatically as inventory sells, and lower itself as vacant inventory sits unsold.
You can find more AdBrite Tips here.

How to Remove Public Service Ads (PSA) in Google Adsense

Some ways to remove PSA, written by quickonlinetips.com:

  • Develop sufficient good content with keywords on your webpage related to the topic of interest
  • Ensure that META tags like ‘title’ & ‘description’ and the headings tags like h1, h2 etc. have content which matches the rest of your site
  • Add specific keywords in your text which will help the google bot to determine and understand the content of your website
  • Try to keep the entire website focussed on a particular theme, so that even if the content on a particular page is lesser, the ads wil show
  • Do not place multiple ad units if there are not suffcient ads to display on all of them
  • Use section targeting - you can target an ad unit to a specific section of your blog, as well as block out irrelevant sections like navigational links

The complete article is here, along with the reason why we must remove the PSA ads.

Ways to Monetize Your Blogs

There many ways to monetize your blogs, it applies on your free blog such as this blog or your self hosting blog, eventhough blog services (specially the free one) has different policies on the money making stuff but it seems the free blog services are the first delicate way to start online earning, specially for the low budget blogger.

The first thing to remember is, that there's no such proven way to make you rich in one night, you set something online and you take some sleep, and wake up as a rich man! No .. in fact you're losing a night and get poorer, because instead of sleep you can do something better!

Every online earner (e.g people who gets money online) is a working hard person, no one stall in their laziness. Everything is a result of their efforts, a hard and smart efforts. So work, analize and be patient!

I have tried everything Listed below, some works some does not, but different blogs, layouts, niches are having different monetization ways. Works for me does not mean it will work for you and vice versa.

Pay Per Click, you get money when visitor clicks ads served on your page(s):

  • Google AdSense
Google AdSense was my first ever online dollar's source, I've been joined as a publisher since almost 3 years ago. It was doing fine, until lately the eCPM dropped a half less than normally I received 6 months ago. But overall it's the most powerful way to get your first online dollar.
Tips: be good with AdSense, never try to cheat them, believe me they have the best resource and script there and they'll catch you sooner or later if you cheat them.
  • Bidvertiser
Bidvertiser pays worse than Google AdSense, it is not a contextual advertising. So it displays anything but your blog theme :), you write automotive theme, you can have some bathroom ideas in your advertisement.
It does not work for me, but you can give them a shot here.
  • Chitika
Chitika can be set as a contextual advertising or a non-contextual advertising. I never tried the contextual one, hence I don't have something to say. But the non-contextual was okay, cost per click is less than AdSense, but I have to say I had received worse. The problem is, their links contains images .. hence visitor will likely know that what lies in front of them is not a part of the content.
I removed the ads sometimes ago, because it was not look good in my blog.:)
  • AdBrite
AdBrite offers publisher two ways to monetize their blog, a pay per click scheme and a cost per mile impression scheme.
Judge yourself, I've been with it for almost a years and have made as high as $12.
  • Widgetbucks
Some friends say that widgetbucks have a high rate per click, but not for me, I receive a third of their cost per click. It is a newly launched service, I haven't had enough experience to write it here.

YPN Placement Tips

"It really depends on what you're trying to do," says Margaret Holland, when asked about optimal ad placement. A senior account manager here at Yahoo! Publisher Network, Margaret helps publishers get the most out of the Network. "From a click-through standpoint, most publishers get the best results when they place a ‘leaderboard' above the fold between the top nav and their rich content."

But not everyone wants to be that up-front with their advertising. Some prefer to place their ads in less-obvious but still eye-catching places. Eye tracking studies have shown that people tend to look at the top-center or top-left of a site first, then track to the right and down the right side, slanting back up across the page to just below the upper-left corner and down the left side – all in an instant.

In general, Margaret has a found that the second most active placement in terms of click-throughs tends to be the right-hand rail or margin. "Skyscrapers" and vertical banners do well when placed next to the content in the main body.

Square and rectangle ads placed within the center column also do well, provided they are placed in context to the content. Ads placed below the fold tend to perform least well, although that isn't a hard-and-fast rule. If you have some useful functionality or eye-catching media near the footer, that may be a good place to put an extra ad unit. Bear in mind, however, that when pairing ads with media or images, it must be apparent to the user that the media is not a part of the ad. Placing images next to ad units can be construed at an "inducement to click," and goes against Yahoo! Publisher Network's Terms and Conditions.

"Each site is different, and each publisher has different goals," Margaret notes. "Publishers should experiment with different placement, layouts, Reporting Categories and Ad Targeting combinations to achieve the best outcome."

AlternateURL - Earn revenue from your default ads

If you use Google AdSense or any other ad program to earn money from your website, now you can increase the amount of revenue you make automatically.

Most online ad programs, including Google, will sometimes show default ads, or public service announcements (PSAs) when they have no paying ads to show. This can happen for many reasons, especially when their ad code crawls your pages.

AlternateURL lets you replace those ads with paying ads. Just use the code we provide to replace your ad program's default ads.
